“The good building is not one that hurts the landscape, but one which makes the landscape more beautiful than it was before the building was built.”

BRINGING EXTERIOR WOOD CLADDING BACK TO LIFE & MOORE

Weathered, raw California Redwood cladding before rehab. Most of damage was caused by prolonged UV exposure without protective coat over the wood.

Maintenance Tip:

Natural wood cladding needs to be maintained regularly. Re-applying clear, protective coat every 1-2 years will keep the wood from getting deteriorated by harmful UV rays. Skip that step for little too long and you might find your self in need of a complete rehab.

After raised grain gets sanded, it is possible to bring back natural beauty of the wood

Most of wood in the picture is original & brought back to life.

THE PROCESS:

  1. Determine which parts of the building are salvageable

  2. Source matching wood to replace none-salvageable existing

  3. Mockup samples with sourced wood, next to refinished section of existing. Get approvals

  4. Install replacement cladding, prep existing remaining parts for new finish

  5. Two coats of stain + protective clear coat
